Information for Professionals

Professionals who work with alcoholics share a common purpose with Alcoholics Anonymous: to help the alcoholic stop drinking and lead a healthy, productive life. AA can serve as a source of relatable personal experience with alcoholism and as an ongoing support system for recovering alcoholics.

For more information about Bridging the Gap, a program that links the alcoholic in treatment to a temporary contact in AA, please visit HMB Bridging the Gap. Volunteers from AA are also available to bring meetings into local treatment facilities. For more information, please contact the District 1 Treatment Chair at district1treatment@aahmbny.org.

The District 1 Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) committee provides contact information, speakers, films, literature, & other information to members of the professional community (including doctors, nurses, members of the clergy, lawyers, social workers, union leaders, business managers, etc.). The CPC Chair can be reached at district1cpc@aahmbny.org.

The District 1 Public Information (PI) committee provides information to local newspapers & periodicals; provides contact with local educational facilities for speakers, film, literature, & other information available; & helps organize & set up meetings at schools, libraries & other community facilities. The PI Chair can be reached at district1pi@aahmbny.org.
